A First Look at I-Drive 360
April 30, 2015
The newest attraction in Orlando is opening next week on May 4. The I-Drive 360 is located on International Drive, the road most visited by tourists in Orlando for its variety of restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Although the complex is still not open, they held a soft opening event for hospitality employees on April 29. Guests were able to experience all of the attractions and enjoy some live music, cocktails and delicious food! I attended the event as a staySky employee and am here to give you the scoop! I-Drive 360 has a few restaurants and shops, but what is set to really attract visitors are the three main attractions in the complex:
The Orlando Eye: The 400-feet tall observation wheel will take you on a 25-20 minute ride at about one mile per hour to enjoy the beautiful Florida landscape. On clear days you can see more than 50 miles away. Orlando has a pretty flat terrain, so the visibility is great. Being from Orlando, I already knew what to expect from the view. But I heard many people saying how surprised they were to see how green our city still looks. The whole experience is super fun, especially if you have never been to an Eye before.
Madame Tussauds: The wax figures museum is so much fun even if you have been to one before. Madame Tussauds has museums all around the world, but each museum has different figures, so you will still “meet” different celebs even if you’ve been to the museum in another city. Your favorite artists, athletes, actors and leaders will be there, so you can take touch them and take tons of creative pictures! Some figures look more alike than others and in Orlando the one that impressed me the most was Jim Parsons, the actor that plays Sheldon in the Big Bang Theory show! Einstein and President Obama were also VERY realistic!
Sea Life Aquarium: You will encounter a vast array of sea creatures including sharks, rays and tropical fish as you view the three oceans of the world! Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans are all there for you to experience and get to know the different creatures inhabiting each ocean! There are plenty of picture opportunities and activities for engage the kids! The staff is VERY friendly and especially attentive to the little ones!
